DEA is committed to making our communities safer and healthier, and we can do this by reducing overdoses and overdose deaths. While the community does its part to turn in unneeded medications and remove them from potential harm, we are doing our part to further reduce drug-related violence. No questions asked. No one's going to talk to you. Just drop it in a box and move on.

Items that will not be accepted in drop-boxes:

  • Needles (sharps)
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Inhalers
  • Aerosol cans
  • Ointments, lotions or loose liquids
  • Medication from businesses or clinics
  • Thermometers
  • Vaping devices or e-cigarettes with batteries still inside them

A special note from authorities on proper disposal of vaping devices:

"DEA will collect vape pens or other e-cigarette devices from individual consumers only after the batteries are removed from the devices. It is important to stress that the DEA is not responsible for removing the batteries from the devices."
