~ Roadside Cleanup

chipper

The Highway Department has been hard at work cleaning up the tree branches and debris from our recent snowstorm. Damaged and broken trees leaning into and alongside the roads will be cut down; The hardwood will be left for the landowner if they want it.

We plan to rent a chipper during the last 2 weeks of April. If you can lend a hand with cleanup along your property frontage by April 16thit will help the work go faster. Any stacked or organized brush and branches should be about 6 feet off and parallel to the road with the butt ends pointing in the direction that traffic goes. This will allow for much more efficient and safer cleanup with the chipper.

If you are working along the road, be sure to follow these safety recommendations:

  • Park your vehicle on the right side of the road with the hazard lights on
  • Work in front of the vehicle so you are protected from traffic
  • Wear something bright so you are visible
  • Remember to look before you step out into road
  • Be careful, don’t overdo it and enjoy the fresh air of Mason

Any and all help is greatly appreciated by myself and the Highway Department crew.

Thank you,
Dave Morrison, Road Agent
