~ Community Power for Mason?

power

Recently the Mason Select Board decided to explore the possibility of bringing Community Power (CP) to Mason and we are looking for people to join a committee to explore how to make that happen for the town. Please consider joining the Energy Aggregation Committee!

What is Community Power? It is the ability of the town to negotiate lower electricity rates for members of the town who pay Eversource for electricity.  It costs NOTHING to the town; no tax dollars are used in this effort.

Over 30 towns in the state have already started this process. Towns around us have already started receiving lower rates due to bulk purchasing contracts.  Towns like Peterborough, Harrisville, Nashua, Wilton and others are well on their way. New Ipswich has just started their investigation.

Some things that have to be done by this committee:

          - learn about Mason's energy use, educate residents about community power
          - learn about other town's community power choices and plans
          - help write Mason's community power plan
          - present Mason's community power plan to the town for approval

Here are some existing town websites to check out.
