Command Vehicle

EMS

Back in July, the Mason Fire Department was notified we were successful in the GOFFER grant process for a new command vehicle. The grant provided funding through the Governor's office as part of the Federal ARPA funds. The grant was a minimum 5% matching funds opportunity with a max grant payout of $50,000. The town was awarded the $50,000 reimbursement and the project was under way.

The project included the new 2022 Ford Expedition from McGovern Auto, emergency light package installed by Global Public Safety, radios installed locally by Modular Communications, and graphics package also done locally at Oak Ridge Signs. The end cost of the project was $70,021.22. This left $20,021.22 after the $50,000 from the state grant which came from the vehicle capital reserve fund. This project was 60% paid for by the grant award.

The vehicle will have the capabilities to provide EMS first response with the necessary equipment for that task. It will also have the capabilities to run a formal command for all calls. With the addition of this vehicle it enhances the safety of the staff as well as adds another tool to our fire service to protect our town.

Thank you,
